A mailbox allows you to send and receive emails using the domain hosted on your server. This guide explains step-by-step how to create a mailbox in the Plesk hosting control panel.
Step 1: Log in to Plesk
-
Go to the Plesk panel using the address provided by your hosting provider (for example, https://yourdomain.com:8443).
-
Enter your login and password you received when registering for hosting.
Step 2: Go to the “Mail” section
-
In the left-hand menu, select Mail.
-
You will see a list of existing mailboxes (if any have already been created).
Step 3: Add a new mailbox
-
Click Create Email Address.
-
Fill in the fields:
-
Email address – enter the username (e.g., info, contact, support).
-
Password – enter a secure password or click “Generate.”
-
(Optional) Set a mailbox size limit (Mailbox quota).
-
-
Click OK or Save.
Step 4: Configure access to mail
After creating the mailbox, you can:
-
Log in to webmail at a URL like https://webmail.yourdomain.com.
-
Set up an email client (Thunderbird, Outlook, Gmail, etc.) using IMAP/POP3 and SMTP protocols. These details can be found in the mailbox properties.
Tips:
-
For better security, enable two-factor authentication (if supported in your version of Plesk).
-
Change mailbox passwords regularly.
-
Check SPF, DKIM, and DMARC settings to ensure proper email delivery.
